The investigation of charcoal burning platforms continues on the 29th June.  Over the course of four days we’ll be excavating a platform in Hirst Wood in order to determine the age of the platform asking: When was it constructed? How many times was it used? When did it go out of use?  We will also be looking at the types of wood used for the process of charcoal production.
